Infrastructure

The honest case for CDN hosting.

Faster page loads, lower bandwidth bills, less downtime, better SEO — and free SSL while you're there.

If your website is hosted on a single server somewhere in London, every visitor in Edinburgh, New York, Sydney or Singapore is making a round trip to that one box. Every CSS file, every image, every font — all the way from their browser to your origin and back. That round trip adds 100–400ms to every asset. On a modern page with 60+ requests, it adds up fast.

A Content Delivery Network solves this by caching your static assets on hundreds of edge servers around the world and serving them from the one closest to each visitor. Cloudflare alone has over 300 data centres in 120+ countries. The result is that a visitor in Tokyo gets your hero image from Tokyo, not from your origin in Manchester. Page loads halve. Server load plummets. Bandwidth costs drop.

But raw speed is only half the story. A modern CDN is also your first line of defence: it absorbs DDoS attacks, blocks malicious bots, terminates TLS with free auto-renewing certificates, hides your origin IP from attackers, and runs a Web Application Firewall that catches common WordPress exploits before they ever touch your server. For most small and mid-size sites, this security alone justifies the setup.

And it's no longer expensive or complicated. Cloudflare's free plan covers brochure sites and small ecommerce stores comfortably. Bunny.net costs pennies per gigabyte and bundles aggressive image optimisation. Setup, done properly, takes a couple of hours. The hard part is getting the cache rules right — and that's what we do.

What you get

Global edge caching

Static assets served from the nearest of 300+ edge nodes. Sub-50ms TTFB worldwide on cached content.

Free TLS 1.3 + HTTP/3

Modern encryption with auto-renewing certificates. HTTP/3 (QUIC) for faster handshakes on mobile networks.

DDoS + WAF protection

Volumetric attacks absorbed at the edge. Managed WAF blocks SQLi, XSS, brute-force login attempts and known WordPress exploits.

Image optimisation

Automatic WebP/AVIF conversion, responsive resizing, lazy loading. Hero images down from 800KB to 80KB without quality loss.

Bandwidth + origin savings

Origin server handles 5–10% of requests instead of 100%. Smaller hosting plans handle the same traffic.

Smart cache rules

Bypass for cart, checkout, account, admin. Purge on publish. Stale-while-revalidate for instant edge responses.

Step 1

What service do you need?

How it works

01

Audit

We measure current TTFB, asset sizes, geographic latency and recommend the right CDN tier for your traffic.

02

Migrate DNS

Lower TTL, point nameservers, verify origin lockdown so traffic can only reach your server via the CDN.

03

Tune cache

Set page rules, cache bypass for dynamic paths, enable image optimisation, configure WAF rules.

04

Monitor

Real User Monitoring for 14 days, tune rules based on actual cache hit ratio and origin pull patterns.
